Say Yes to less:
3 Simple Steps to Create
an Atmosphere for Achievement
About a month ago, I posted on Facebook that I’d been on an unsubscribe spree and that was loving every minute of it. Yes, a few key e-zines and newsletters made the cut, but the rest are history along with a whole bunch of other subscriptions for stores, products, services, travel and more. I know when I need to shop at Bed, Bath & Beyond and I have my 101 coupons, so I don’t need their constant sales and promotions. So out they went!
In addition to that, my house went on the market last fall and I’ll be moving, hopefully in the near future, and you know what happens when you move, right? Instant clearage of clutter! Although, this is ME we’re talking about, so did I have a lot of clutter to begin with? Not really. But did I find more to part with? You bet! And I’m loving every minute of that too.
The best part about simplifying your things, simplifying the influx of information and simplifying your surroundings is that it allows you to enjoy what you do keep, what you do get and what you do want to see around you. It’s a beautiful thing. It’s a marvelous feeling. It allows you to be free, to move forward with clearer vision and decisive action.

Could all the stuff you have and the stuff you get be shielding you from what you really want or what you really want to be doing? Are you holding yourself back from where you really should be going? Are you a little foggy about what you’re trying to accomplish?
A disorganized environment can block clear thinking and ideas. And if it’s not doing that, then it could be blocking you from implementing your good ideas. Clutter could be blocking your rise to the next level of success.
The stagnation of the things around you can keep you stagnant too and what you want to do it clear away stagnant things so you can enjoy free space, free thought, and free-flowing ideas.
The goal may appear to be “getting organized,” but it’s more than that. The long term goal is a new mindset – one of simple, open surroundings to promote future thinking and forward motion. Think of the possibilities, potential change and exciting new opportunities.
It’s time to take charge! There’s no time like the present. Especially after the Holidays, because unless I’m mistaken, I think you just got some more stuff!
Here are 3 easy steps you can take to say “yes” to less:
1. Look around
Start by recognizing the stagnant things around you and pay equally close attention to the people and situations that keep you stuck. There are many areas of life which can hold you back – emotional, financial, physical, relationships, home environment, work environment. Take a look at each of these areas and note what’s not working for you anymore. Choose one area to start changing for the better and simplifying.
2. Focus on “things”
If you focus on simplifying your “things,” you have to set aside time with a purpose in mind. Have a plan. Pick an area. Start small. And you have to be tough, decisive and efficient during this time. Target an area that’s not working for you and change it! What would make this area better? More useful to you? What stays? What goes?
3. Organize for good
Then organize what stays in such a way that these things will always serve you and the area will always be easy to maintain. Because if it’s not easy to maintain, then you’ve set yourself up for a challenge… again. Instead, set up your environment to support you and help you succeed!
